Route Map

The early morning view into Mickleden from the parking space at the top of the Blea Tarn road.

Kettle Crag casts it's shadow into Oxendale.

Kettle Crag.

The head of Great Langdale.............

.........and again from the top of the pitched path that rises sharply alongside Redacre Gill.

At the top of the pitched path the view opens up to include the top of Pike o' Blisco and beyond............

…...........to Bow Fell.

Behind there are great views to the northeast.

The Langdale Pikes.

Crinkle Crags and Bow Fell over the summit of Pike o' Blisco.

A particularly fine view awaits those who ponder on the summit.

 From Crinkle Crags...............

…….........round to the Langdale Pikes.............

.......and into Great Langdale.

The northern cairn, the summit, from the southern cairn.

Marion………

……......enjoying her day out.

The classic U-shaped valley of Mickleden.

Glaramara and Pike o' Stickle.

Crinkle Crags and Bow Fell.

The only problem with up-and-down routes is that the views are the same coming down as they were going up.......but no complaints from me.

Autumnal colours on the high slopes as the bracken turns.

Crossing Redacre Gill.

Beautiful Mickleden………..what is there not to like about it?

Great Langdale.
