Another early morning start under leaden skies from the top of the Walna Scar fell road.

Cove Bridge and somewhere behind....Brown Pike.

The Cove.

Walna Scar - White Maiden, White Pike and the summit of Caw beyond.

Dunnerdale.

The view southwards towards the Duddon estuary over the top of White Pike - Black Combe just right of centre.

Green Crag and Harter Fell over Duinnerdale.

Another view towards Black Combe and signs that the cloud is gradually lifting.

Towards the Duddon estuary again.......a little brighter now,

Looking south to the head of Morecambe Bay from the summit of White Maiden - Coniston Water centre left.

The view north not so bright.....but at least the top of Brown Pike is now visible.

Dow Crag, Buck Pike and Brown Pike over the top of the Walna Scar Road.

A look back along Walna Scar.

Blind Tarn and the old Gold Scope slate quarry backed by Buck Pike.

The Old Man from the cave entrance.

The view would have greeted the miners as they emerged into daylight from the depths of the underground mine.

Coniston Water over the old quarry ruins.

The Old Man of Coniston over Blind Tarn.

Blind Tarn is contained by a rim of land beneath the slopes of Brown Pike......it has no visible inflow or outflow hence its name.

The Walna Scar Road......originally a track used by horse-drawn vehicles for transit between Coniston and the Duddon Valley.

The Cove.....the high tops now visible.

Cove Bridge and Brown Pike.

The Walna Scar ridge just visible over the top of Low Long Crag.

On the Road again.....a distinct layer of cumulus cloud adds atmosphere to the scene.
